Practical application of cloth simulation in Blender


The objective here was to take an existing 3D model of a fighting chair (an expensive type of chair used for fishing) and create a cover to put over it.

Here are some real-life examples of fighting chair covers:

The original 3D model of the cover looked rather blocky:

But what a difference after running it through a cloth simulation - this was the first try:

After a bit of refinement, and loaded into a different program:

And the final results, showing from left to right the original cover, a polygon-reduced version, and a different version attempting to be more taut:
